正直”長たらしい”のですが、注目を集めたのが、この記事で実はナカムラシンスケが棚橋弘至の引退試合のためにWWEにリリースリクエストをしていた、という衝撃の事実でした。
該当箇所を中心に読んでみたいと思います。
１．オカダではなくナカムラ
結局オカダカズチカが棚橋弘至の引退試合の相手になったのだが、最初の候補は、やはりナカムラシンスケだった。
Indeed, Kazuchika Okada was not the first name on the list when it came to potential opponents for Tanahashi on January 4th, with WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura being their top target from the outset.

２．あの消えた時期
ナカムラシンスケがWWEに登場しなくなったのは”必要とされなくなった”から、と一般的には認識されています（後日突然復帰）。しかし、どうやらあの期間がキーだったようです。
突然ナカムラシンスケはWWEの放送から姿を消した。このことは、WadeKellerをはじめ、ジャーナリストの間で、ナカムラシンスケのリリース予測を立てさせた。
Shinsuke Nakamura was still part of WWE television during this period, featuring on a regular basis up until June, when he suddenly disappeared from TV, with no reports of having suffered an injury. This led to speculation over the status of Nakamura’s contract, with Wade Keller reporting in August that he believed the wrestler was still under one when the question was raised in wider discussion.

３．核心部分（記事の）
上掲１，２の論点の後、TrishSpeirsの長たらしい記事は、例の「WWE王者になりたい」界隈の出来事を振り返りますが、割愛し、核心部分を読みたいと思います。
当時（オカダカズチカに決定する以前）の状況を整合的に理解させるのは、ナカムラシンスケが既にWWEにリリース要求をしていた、という視点であった。この視点は既に複数メディアで共有されており、時期は2025年夏頃［編集部注：この時期は90日間競業禁止条項を念頭において逆算されていると思います］だったと言われている。しかもWWEは、そのリリース要求に応じた。しかしAEWとCMLLにはかかわるな、という条件付きだった。
The most consistent story (in terms of multiple outlets having been given the same information) is that Nakamura had asked to be released from his contract during the summer and that WWE had agreed to the request, allowing him to fulfill the match without any political issues with AEW or CMLL.

しかし竹下幸之介がIWGP戴冠した10月の両国大会直後、WWEはこのウワサ（というか実際に成立していたが”施行”において、このリーリース）を否定したとのこと。
４．なにが原因だったか
正直、WWEが①（ナカムラシンスケの）リリース要求を拒絶したのか、それとも②リリース後の競業禁止90日条項違反を認めなかったか、それとも③契約継続でのNOAHに対する参戦のような形を認めなかったのか、よくわかりません。
ただ最大の理由は、WWEが形は（①であろうが②であろうが③であろうが）どうあれ、自分の団体の”息のかかった選手”が他団体の、しかも最大興行のメインイベントに登場することは、いわばガバナンス上問題ある、と考えたところにあるようです。

The expectation is, probably rightfully, that it would not have ended at just an OK for Nakamura to be part of the match. WWE have denied to Fightful that the match had even been “broached”, but with everything we have seen up until this point, it feels extremely unlikely that this was the case.
What WWE are absolutely aware of, though, is that there would be political implications of a WWE wrestler essentially main eventing the biggest Tokyo Dome show in two decades. There would be no issue from partner promotions if he was to participate in the match as a free agent, but him still being under contract does immediately change the circumstances around putting the match together in the current political environment. It is this that would be a fundamental sticking point that could not be overcome.

５．新日本プロレスから忖度
新日本プロレスからの忖度、つまりAEWへの忖度があったことも、ナカムラシンスケが新日本プロレスのリングに上がれなかった理由だったみたいです。
トニーカーンが横やりを入れて来た、という事実はない。事実はむしろ逆、つまり現在のAEWとの協業関係下で、WWEの選手を突然登場させるのは、新日本プロレスとしても相手の気持ちを推し量ればできなかった、ということである。
No outlet that we are aware of has reported that Tony Khan shut the match down, rather, the line is that New Japan were made aware that there would be “serious repercussions” to the relationship between the two promotions if the deal was still to be made with Nakamura whilst under WWE contract, as well as a firm push for Okada to be the opponent at the Tokyo Dome.
